Adf.ly : Make Money Online with Shortened URLs

Looking for a new URL shortener that converts your long and ugly URLs into decent looking URLs? What about adf.ly? Adf.ly is a new URL shortening service that not only reduces the length of your URLs but also gives you an opportunity to earn money from those shortened links that you share online! Interesting, isn’t it?

Adf.ly service is very easy to use. In order to shorten your URL you don’t have to register for an account. Just enter the URL hit the ‘Shrink!’ button. You will get something like this: http://adf.ly/B9. But if you want to make money online by monetizing your shortened URLs, you need to open an account. Don’t worry it is free!

How adf.ly will help you in monetization of your short URLs? Like other URL shortening services, it generates short URLs which users can post anywhere on the web. But the catch is whenever someone clicks on a adf.ly link an ad will be shown before the actual link loads. A portion of the money earned from those advertisements will be shared with the publishers.

According to their website, link publishers can expect to earn anywhere between $0.50 to $5.00 per 1000 visitors. So, your earning will depend on how many people click on your links. They also have a referral program which will pay you a portion of your referral’s earnings for life! You can withdraw your earnings anytime via PayPal when you have earned $25 or more.

Adf.ly is currently accepting advertisers for as little as $0.001 per unique and targeted visitor. If you want to advertise your websites or landing pages, this is a good opportunity. Because your actual website or landing page will be shown to the visitor before the actual link appears. They claim to deliver targeted visitors via keywords and country. As an advertiser, you can start with a minimum deposit of $20.00.

So, what you think about this new service? Do you think that it is a cool way to make money online? Or you will simply avoid it because of the full page advertisement that appears before the actual link. Visit adf.ly to know more and feel free to share your own view.

TANTRUM

Monday, June 29, 2009
In 2002 three teenagers, tired of the meaningless music being pumped into Sri Lankan veins through the mainstream, got an idea to form a band and realize the potency of the one pure form of music they all loved, Heavy Metal. At the time they barely knew the rudiments of instrumentation, and actually getting a band off the ground seemed like an unrealistic dream for the 16 year old school mates. But as time went on, there was a significant improvement, and at the beginning of 2004 the guys decided to take this more seriously after realizing the possible potential for a Metal Band in the Sri Lankan music industry, and the name 'Tantrum’ was born.

The band's style is considered Thrash Metal, with a touch of technical Death Metal with various melodic elements. Classical, Blues, Jazz & Eastern elements are also influential to the band when creating music.

The band recorded and released their first single titled “The Destroyer” which became a Number 1 hit on the local chart show (TNL’s SL Hot 10). This earned Tantrum some recognition in the metal scene. Soon afterwards, Tantrum released their 2nd single titled “Alone”, which proved that the band had great talent and it impressed many of the listeners, and so Tantrum had the fortune of starting off with two smash singles. Tantrum was also one of the few bands to take part in TNL Onstage (a battle of the bands like competition in Sri Lanka) for the 1st time & come out winners of the competition. This was in 2005. Tantrum then released an EP titled "The Destruction Begins" in 2006 and soon after the band went through a major line up change. Currently the line up is as follows -

Javeen Soysa - Lead Vocals & Bass Guitar
Akila Pieris - Rhythm & Lead Guitar
Malinda Senanayake - Rhythm & Lead Guitar
Tharaka Senevirathne - Drums

Ever since the change the bands music evolved into genres stated above and the usage of crushing 7 string guitars became a unique and a first ever in Sri Lanka. Tantrum has also managed to appear in countless number of interviews, front covers of magazines and press articles etc, as well as electronic media around Asia and has been labeled as one of the leading Metal bands in Sri Lanka. The band cannot wait to get out there and delight the Metal World by providing them with dynamic music and performances to break their necks moshing to. Tantrum is looking forward to open the floodgates to a whole new level of music, and take Sri Lankan heavy metal to greater heights, and their journey has just begun

Stigmata (Sri Lankan Band)

Sunday, June 28, 2009
Suresh De Silva, Andrew Obeysekara and Tennyson Napolean formed the band in 1999 at S. Thomas' College, Mt Lavinia, where they were schoolmates. They chose the name Stigmata after the 1998 album by melodic death metal band Arch Enemy. The band's style is a mix of thrash metal along with some death metal, and hard rock influences, laced with nuances of classical, Latin, jazz, blues, baila, and eastern rhythms. Enter 2009 and Stigmata is not only the pioneering Heavy Metal Band in Sri Lanka but have chiseled and carved out a sound that has evolved; epic landscapes that ebb and flow with intensity and evocative grandeur.

With bass player Shehan Gray and drummer Anik Jayasekara they released their first single, "Fear", which topped the local radio rock-chart show.In 2000 they recorded another, "Voices," which was a sensation in the stagnant local music industry, and was a chart topping hit. In 2001 the band took on drummer Dilukshan Jayawardena following the departure of Jayasekara due to personal reasons. The band released their first EP, Morbid Indiscretion, in 2002, containing the singles "The Dying Winter Sleeps," "Thicker Than Blood," and the instrumental "Andura." At the time the band also covered music by international bands such as Deep Purple, Metallica, and Led Zeppelin, as well as bands not so popular in the country at that time such as Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, Judas Priest, Cradle of Filth, and System of a Down, which made them revolutionary by exposing Sri Lankans to music many in the country had never heard before.

In 2003, drummer Nisho Fernando joined the band following the departure of Dilukshan for higher education. The success of the original singles released up to this point culminated in the band launching their first album, Hollow Dreams, in August 2003 on the local Rock Company label. The band continued to influence many youth in the country to form their own Heavy Metal bands and carve a unique Sri Lankan Heavy Metal sound.

In 2004, Vije Dhas became Stigmata's bass player, after Shehan Gray left for Australia. Former drummer Dilukshan temporarily stepped in after Nisho Fernando left the band earlier that year. In 2005 the band found permanent drummer Osanda Wangeesa and the range of the band was further increased, with the addition of double bass drumming. In late 2004 the band also recorded the highly successful acoustic track titled "Lucid" which made innovative use of the Indian tabla, played by Sri Lankan percussionist Jananath Warakagoda. This was a prelude to the heavier, electric version of this song released on the bands' second studio album, Silent Chaos Serpentine, in February 2006. This was followed up by concerts in the Maldive Islands in June 2006. Drummer Ranil 'Jacky' Senarath joined the band in August 2005 after the departure of Osanda. Vije Dhas left the Band in 2008 and the Band now have their long time friend and bassist extraordinaire Javin Soysa (Tantrum) who performed with the Band in Maldives in 2006. Tenny, Andrew, Suresh, Jacky and Javin are prepared to take Stigmata to a new, unprecedented terrain creating monumental music while proving they are untouchable as a Live entity.

The lyrical themes of the band are generally from poetry by the bands' vocalist cum lyricist Suresh and cover topics such as apathy, child abuse, politics, war, social degradation and inner struggle. However the Band's highly anticipated Third Album sees Stigmata dealing with fresh themes like Psychic Voyages, Spiritual and Para-Psychological Endeavors, Suicide etc.

Stigmata just released a crushing new single 'A Dead Rose Wails for Light' which you can listen to on the Band's myspace www.myspace.com/stigmatasrilanka, while the Band was recently interviewed and asked to perform 'A Dead Rose Wails for Light' for Ian Wright's "Out of Bounds" a new travel series on the Discovery Channel. The Band have over 26 thousand hits on their Myspace, have over 70 thousand collective views on www.youtube.com and the Band's Silent Chaos Serpentine has been on Australia's top metal site wwww.themetalforge.com's top 50 reviews of all time for over a year now and is currently at no.12.

Stigmata's Third Album is a work in progress and the Band are targeting July/August to launch the record. Songs like 'Spiral Coma', 'The Summoning Cry of Aries' and 'March of the Saints' showcase the Band's ability to weave technical/extreme tapestries into their melodic and infectious musical palette.
